Tauranga Community Housing Trust work to improve access to quality, sustainable housing for people with low incomes, unmet housing needs, and special disability access housing.
They provide a facilitation service developing housing solutions for individuals and families by advocating for and implementing new housing models to meet current and future community
needs.
A $300,000 donation from TECT contributed immensely to the construction of a 14-unit block of affordable housing units suitable for a range of ages and abilities back in 2015. The block provides efficient, modern, functional housing while encouraging a sense of community among tenants.
In 2016, further funding was requested to assist with a new housing project that would see 14 one-bedroom units built on Waihi Road. With a TECT grant of $250,000, the building project
was a success, providing a friendly community development ready for new tenants to move in one week prior to Christmas.
