TECT and Creative Bay of Plenty have joined forces to support the resilience and renewal of Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty’s creative sector, and increase vibrancy in the region over the Summer period, with the introduction of a new rapid turn-around grant programme.
Open now, the Arts Mini-grants are designed to help support creative ideas, cultural celebrations,
and arts events. Established organisations, informal groups and individuals are all invited to apply for projects that deliver a new arts, culture, or heritage benefit to the community.
The submission process is simple, and those new to grant-writing can get help from the Creative Bay of Plenty team. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, are capped at $2000, and decisions will be made within a fortnight of submission. Creative Bay of Plenty General Manger Eric Holowacz says, “Our local arts communities are eager to make 2021 a vibrant and dynamic year. The arts and entertainment sectors have had a tumultuous year this year, and it’s time to rebuild a sense of togetherness and shared experiences.
“We felt this was one way we could support artists, performers and organisations quickly, while, at
the same *me, delivering positive, creative Summer energy to our region, at a *me when it will likely
be brimming with domestic travellers.”
TECT General Manager Wayne Werder says, "Art, culture and creativity breathe life into a city;
bringing our community together, showcasing our region and people, and adding vibrancy to our
streets.
“As we head into summer, this is a fantastic time to support that. We love being at the heart of our
community, and this funding partnership will allow us to further support the creative sector, with a
quick turn-around that will get new projects up and running so we can all get out there and enjoy
them.”
